Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts
We are Canada’s Celtic Rock Warriors. Our specialty is our live show which is guaranteed to entertain. Our new “Where I Came From” record highlights the strengths of our new exciting lineup, while keeping true to the explosive talents of both Robby and Sandy Campbell. The Campbell brothers have endured the ups and downs of the entertainment industry for over 15 years, and have now taken full ownership of the band and its direction. In the words of Canada’s Juno award winning country music star Johnny Reid, “The Mudmen are Canada’s best kept secret”
Everyone loves classical music - they just don’t know it yet! Let’s tear down the walls of classical etiquette, and invite everyone in to enjoy works driven by classical art. I joke with the audience, share information about the works which help them get closer to the art, and treat them like they are guests in my living room, often eliciting their involvement. I use my vocal range to keep the audience guessing. The highest compliments I receive from classical enthusiasts, and new “converts” say “Terry Makes Classical, Fun!” and “The most entertaining classical performance we’ve had”.
Remembered for Play Me a Rock and Roll Song, his bitter-sweet memory of finding himself, a relaxed and amiable story-teller, facing a rambunctious audience at the Aldergrove Rock Festival circa 1968, Valdy has sold almost half a million copies of his 13 albums, has two Juno Awards (Folk Singer of the Year and Folk Entertainer of the Year), a total of seven Juno nominations and four Gold albums to his credit.
Musical comedienne Sharron Matthews has been playing to sold-out audiences and received 5-star reviews across Canada, South Africa, Europe and the United States. She was named the #1 Cabaret in New York City in 2010 by Nite Life Exchange and was voted “Best of the Fest” in Edinburgh. In Toronto Matthews was named “Best Cabaret Performer” in 2009 by NOW Magazine. She has appeared in hit movies like Mean Girls, Cinderella Man and Hairpray and on stage in Les Miserables, Showboat, Beauty and the Beast and the Wizard of Oz for which she was nominated for a Dora Award.
“Music is my soul’s nourishment. I aim to bridge and fuse musical cultures by encompassing my music with sounds and instruments from all over the World. When I’m performing my different instruments, I go on a musical journey to World’s far and beyond where I am at that moment. Music to me is illimitable and is border less. Music does not discriminate against any race, colour or religion and neither do I. I love and respect all cultures, which is why I have embraced the musical sounds and instruments from multiple countries. I hope my passion for making music and performing music is infectious to my listeners.”
I have performed classical, folk, contemporary, theatre and pop music as a singer, violinist, violist, accordionist and guitarist. My goal in writing is to be as clear and expressive as possible at the intersection of these influences. My goal in performance is for the audience to be alive to the power of intimate, spontaneous, improvisational and transformative moments.
