The Fugitives

The Fugitives combine the old and the new – traditional acoustic instrumentation and vocal harmonies mixed with contemporary storytelling. A Fugitives show is rooted in tradition. It features all-acoustic instruments (banjo, violin, acoustic guitar, harmonica, balalaika), catchy melodies, complex harmonies, and songs driven by narrative. However, the group’s infectious energy and mix of genres -- songs range from folk to bluegrass to pop to old-time, and members include an award-winning novelist and former Canadian SLAM poetry champ -- has a decidedly modern feel. The result is a folk concert that remains accessible to a wide demographic, but also pushes boundaries to provide listeners with a completely unique concert experience.
