Ontario Contact provides a variety of ways to increase your knowledge of changes, challenges and ways to success in the performing arts sector.

The recent two-part workshop Touring - Taking Your Art Beyond Your Region was a recent example. Although a pilot, response from all participants suggests that we should continue offering it. Look for another opportunity in the new year.

Part A - Workshop:

You will learn what is required to apply for showcasing, such as what materials to include; how to prepare them; when do you need an agent and how to find the appropriate one;  the essential marketing materials; and, what is expected of you at a showcase event.

   

Part B - Mock Showcase

A participatory exercise that provides the artist through a 15 minute mock showcase opportunity, immediately after which you will meet with experts who will provide advice on how to improve your showcase including dealing with technical challenges of minimal setup and sound tech opportunities. You will also have the opportunity to participate as an audience member and watch the showcase. The juries' critique on the mock showcase is open only to the artists directly involved.

NOTE: Part B is not an audition for Ontario Contact showcasing. It is intended to help interested artists prepare for future showcasing opportunities in general.
