Virtual Contact ONtour: September 13th-18th, 2021

A few months ago we announced cautiously optimistic plans for an in-person or hybrid Contact ONtour (formerly Ontario Contact) to take place in Orillia, ON in September 2021. With ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, it is now clear that it will be impossible to gather in large numbers in September. We have therefore made the difficult but necessary decision to move to a virtual conference.

Contact ONtour will take place virtually during the week of September 13th-18th, 2021, with some activities taking place throughout September. Please note that no activities will be held during Yom Kippur (the evening of Sept 15th and all day on Sept 16th).

We are busily making plans for a conference that will bring us all together for conversation, connection, and art, until we are once again able to gather in person. The conference will include showcases, pitches, networking opportunities, professional development workshops, and important industry conversations.

Showcase and Pitch Applications Now Open

Applications to showcase or pitch at the virtual conference are now open!

In order to address the new realities of a virtual conference and a gradual return to live performance post-COVID-19, we have made several changes to the showcase process this year.

All showcases and pitches will be virtual and will require an application. Artists interested in a showcase or pitch are invited to apply before May 7th, 2021. We anticipate the selection of 15 showcasing artists, 15 pitching artists, and approximately 30 additional artists to be included in an online directory.

We encourage performing artists of all disciplines from Ontario and other Canadian provinces and territories, to apply. Given ongoing travel restrictions and limited showcase capacity, at this time we are accepting applications from Canadian artists only.

Ontario Presents is committed to ensuring equity, inclusivity, and representation in our sector. We especially encourage applications from artists who identify as Indigenous, Black, or People of Colour, artists with disabilities, Deaf artists, as well as artists from the LGBTQ2S+ community, to apply, and will be placing emphasis on representation from these communities in our selection process.

Full application details can be found on our Artist Submissions page

We strongly encourage any artist interested in applying to read all information on the Artist Submissions page, including our FAQs.
